Park County HVAC Upgrades

Park County HVAC Upgrades

Groathouse Construction, Inc. was selected as a government contractor in Wyoming to complete this complex renovation of the existing courthouse, which had not been updated since 1985. The project was carefully phased so parts of the building could remain open to the public throughout construction. Each phase included a full overhaul of the aging mechanical systems, including replacement of all ductwork and heating and cooling piping.

First, the team renovated the assessor, clerk, treasurer, and election offices. Two new air-handler units were installed in the basement and one in the mezzanine. During this phase alone, 23,000 sf of acoustical ceiling tile was removed and replaced to access the ductwork. In addition, new sprinkler heads and control valves were added to the fire suppression system. Lighting was upgraded to LED fixtures, and new carpet was installed on the basement level and second floor. Two new chillers, additional piping, and interior paint were also completed through a change order.

Next, the second phase modernized the mechanical system in the original courthouse building. Two new Energy Recovery Ventilator units were installed on the top floor of the 1912 structure. Along with the HVAC upgrades, the Commissioner’s Meeting Room was expanded. Lighting was converted to LED, and new carpet was installed throughout.

Finally, the third phase, added by change order, focused on the Public Works building. This work included a full roof replacement and installation of seven new rooftop units. The fire suppression system was extended to offices that were not previously sprinkled, and the interior was finished with new paint and carpet.

Throughout the project, our team worked closely with Park County to minimize disruption to daily courthouse operations. Because construction occurred during election season, detailed planning was essential. We coordinated employee relocations and helped redirect public traffic to temporary locations, ensuring county services continued without interruption.
