Park County Library – Powell
Groathouse Construction was selected as Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) for the new library in Powell, Wyoming, developed for the Park County Library District. The facility was designed to serve the evolving needs of the growing Powell community, creating a welcoming and flexible space for both daily use and
community engagement.
Strategically located adjacent to a middle school, the library provides an accessible gathering place for students after school, while also serving as a hub for public meetings and events. The new facility expands on the limitations of the original library, featuring enhanced adult services, a dedicated teen area, meeting rooms, a reading space, and a community seed bank.
The design reflects the character and heritage of Powell, incorporating local architectural influences and input from community stakeholders. It also prioritizes long-term adaptability, ensuring the building can evolve alongside future community needs.
During preconstruction, Groathouse provided continuous cost estimating to keep the project aligned with budget goals. The team also accelerated the schedule through early release bid packages for demolition and site preparation—issued three months ahead of the main construction scope.
The result is a vibrant, functional, and adaptable community resource that strengthens connections and enhances quality of life for Powell residents.
