Cody Regional Health – Linear Accelerator Replacement

Cody Regional Health - Linear Accelerator Replacement

Groathouse Construction, Inc. was selected to complete renovations to the existing Linear Accelerator vault in conjunction with Cody Regional Health’s replacement of their Linear Accelerator equipment. Work was performed with a strict deadline within the active Cancer Center, requiring strict infection control and life
safety measures to separate construction activities from adjacent exam and infusion areas.

This project included extensive concrete demolition within the existing vault, removing approximately 10 cubic yards of material up to 24+ inches thick in a constrained environment. Following demolition, new mechanical and electrical infrastructure was installed, concrete was re-poured, and the new linear accelerator base (set by the vendor) was encased. The project also included demolition and replacement of casework, ceilings, flooring, and finishes, along with installation of scene panel lighting and a wall mural to enhance the patient environment.

Careful coordination was required with the third-party Linear Accelerator vendor to support preparation and schedule delivery and installation of the new unit while the facility remained fully operational. The installation of the unit was completed in two separate visits, followed by a final visit from the start-up team.
