This project took place in an active hospital, which presented several challenges. The scope included preparing an adjacent space to temporarily relocate the existing lab. This ensured that daily lab operations continued without interruption during construction.
Once the temporary space was ready, construction began with the installation of ICRA panels to seal off the work area. This provided a high level of protection against dust and debris, safeguarding patients and staff throughout the project.
The next phase included complete demolition of the existing lab. Walls, ceilings, soffits, flooring, and concrete were removed to accommodate new plumbing and electrical systems. During demolition, Groathouse maintained constant communication with lab staff to minimize noise and prevent disruption to adjacent hospital areas.
After demolition, the installation of under-slab plumbing and electrical systems began. This was followed by framing new walls and completing rough-ins. Finally, new finishes were installed, including laboratory-specific casework, updated flooring, and modern plumbing and electrical fixtures.
